Steep Slope Roofer - Experienced

GSM Roofing is hiring experienced steep slope roofers in Ephrata, PA.

This job is Safety-Sensitive. Safety-Sensitive jobs include tasks or duties that could affect the safety and health of the employee performing the task or others.

You'll handle tear-offs, installations, and repairs on sloped roofs, including shingles, metal, slate, and specialty systems. This is outdoor work in all weather. If you've worked construction, landscaping, or any outdoor trade, you know what that means. These tasks and duties include, but are not limited to operating: material handling equipment, motorized vehicles, roofing equipment/machinery, power tools, working at height over four feet and working in confined spaces (or as prescribed by OSHA).

Essential Job Functions:

• Job set up
• Roof removal
• Material layout
• Material installation
• Understand and follow instructions
• Have understanding and knowledge of the basic use of hand tools
• Set up scaffold framing and planks
• Push loaded wheel barrows
• Pull loaded tear off carts
• Use hand tools to remove roofing
• Clean roof and grounds

Requirements

Qualifications:

• Previous outdoor experience preferred in construction or roofing
• Knowledge and use of hand, power & motorized equipment
• Ability to climb ladders and work at heights
• Ability to understand and follow customers' and GSM safety practices
• Speak and understand English
• Valid driver's license

Machines/Tools/Equipment:

• Hand tools
• Power tools
• Motorized equipment
• Specialty tools: hot luger, felt layer, kettle, hot air welding equipment

Working Conditions:

• Outside in all types of weather conditions.
• Significant travel to job sites.
• In a normal workday, the employee must be able to stand approximately 7+ hours
• In a normal workday, the employee must be able to sit approximately 1-4 hours
• In a normal workday, the employee must be able to walk approximately 1-4 hours
• In a normal workday, the employee must be able to drive approximately 1-4 hours
• In a normal workday, the employee must be able to lift/carry approximately 75 lbs. maximum; frequently lift/carry up to 50 lbs.
  
  - Heavy Work
• The employee must be able to use his/her upper extremities for repetitive Simple Grasping, Pushing/Pulling, and Fine Manipulation
• The employee must be able to:
• Bend at the waist frequently 34-66% of the day
• Squat at the knees frequently 34-66% of the day
• Climb occasionally 0-33% of the day
• Reach above shoulders occasionally 0-33% of the day
• Kneel frequently 34-66% of the day
• Crawl occasionally 0-33% of the day
• Use feet (foot controls) occasionally 0-33% of the day

Salary Description

$21-$30+/hr. depending on experience
