Transmission Line Engineer

Grant County PUD is seeking a Transmission Line Engineer to support the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of transmission infrastructure across its Power Delivery organization. This individual will play a key role in supporting major transmission expansion projects, improving system reliability, and ensuring safe, efficient power delivery throughout Central Washington.

This engineer will lead transmission design efforts, capital project execution, equipment evaluations, and technical standards development while partnering with internal engineering, operations, construction, and project management teams. The role is heavily involved in transmission infrastructure growth, including support for the Quincy Transmission Expansion Project (QTEP), which is being driven by increasing power demand and regional data center growth.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead transmission engineering design efforts and capital project execution
• Research, design, and implement new transmission equipment and infrastructure upgrades
• Develop engineering standards, technical specifications, and equipment requirements
• Utilize PLS-CADD or similar software to model and analyze transmission line designs
• Support planning, budgeting, scheduling, construction, and commissioning activities
• Review transmission drawings, specifications, equipment layouts, and vendor submittals
• Coordinate with engineering, operations, construction, and project management stakeholders
• Partner with manufacturers, suppliers, consultants, and contractors throughout project life cycles
• Support NERC, FERC, and CIP compliance initiatives
• Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and guidance to engineering teams
• Participate in industry organizations and technical forums
• Support stakeholder engagement, commission meetings, and community outreach efforts as needed
