Position Summary

We are seeking a dynamic and strategic Director of Field Operations to lead our field teams and oversee the successful execution of projects across all active job sites. This highly visible, field-focused leadership role is responsible for how work is done in the field, including construction means and methods, crew and equipment utilization, project sequencing, scheduling, regulatory compliance, safety protocols, and overall field performance.

The Director of Field Operations will partner with project leaders to ensure work is completed safely, on schedule, within budgeted labor hours, and in accordance with quality and regulatory requirements across complex abatement and demolition scopes. As a key driver of operational excellence, this role is also responsible for strengthening the field leadership pipeline by developing project managers, superintendents, foremen, and other field staff while fostering a culture of safety, accountability, efficiency, and continuous improvement.

Duties & Responsibilities Field Operations
  • Provide leadership and oversight for all field operations across active projects.
  • Ensure projects are properly staffed, sequenced, equipped, and executed to achieve schedule, budget, quality, and productivity objectives.
  • Maintain visibility into all active projects, including project status, staffing, critical milestones, and operational risks.
  • Conduct regular jobsite visits to evaluate field performance, identify opportunities for improvement, and support field leadership.
  • Resolve operational challenges related to manpower, equipment, sequencing, site logistics, subcontractors, and changing field conditions.
  • Standardize field execution practices to promote consistency and operational excellence across the organization.
  • Monitor field performance through key operational metrics, including labor productivity, schedule adherence, safety performance, quality, and equipment utilization.
  • Identify opportunities to improve operational processes, field efficiency, and workforce effectiveness.
  • Foster collaboration between Operations, Project Management, Safety, Human Resources, and Leadership.
Safety & Compliance
  • Champion a culture where operational leaders are accountable for safety performance.
  • Partner with the Safety Director to ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, NESHAP, USACE EM 385, state regulations, client requirements, and company policies.
  • Review safety trends, incident data, inspections, and corrective actions to reduce risk and continuously improve field performance.
  • Participate in incident investigations and ensure operational corrective actions are implemented.
  • Verify appropriate certifications, licensing, engineering controls, and regulatory requirements are maintained on applicable projects.
Project Mobilization
  • Participate in project handoff meetings to ensure successful transitions from estimating and project management to field execution.
  • Confirm projects are fully prepared for mobilization, including staffing, equipment, permits, logistics, safety planning, and regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate equipment, tooling, and resource availability to support project schedules and operational priorities.
Leadership & Communication
  • Serve as a member of the Leadership Team, contributing to operational planning and strategic initiatives.
  • Lead regular meetings with field staff to communicate priorities, review performance, and reinforce company expectations.
  • Participate in operations meetings, project reviews, and client meetings as needed.
  • Represent the company at industry associations, networking events, and professional organizations.
Reporting
  • Provide regular operational updates to leadership on project performance, manpower, safety, operational risks, and key initiatives.
