We are currently looking for a Painting and Decorating Apprentice to join our award-winning apprenticeship scheme that could help you achieve your goals whilst also making a positive impact on other people's lives.
- Starting rate: £10.06 per hour (£20,401 per annum)
- Qualified rate: £17.89 per hour (£36,280 per annum)
You’ll also have opportunities to progress after your apprenticeship, through routes such as our Trainee Surveyor Programme and Trainee Contracts Manager Programme.
What the apprenticeship is all aboutAs an Apprentice at Ian Williams, you’ll learn on the job, gaining hands-on experience while studying ’ll be supported by experienced tradespeople, including your own dedicated mentor, and work towards mastering your chosen trade.
What you’ll be doing- Working on projects such as social housing, offices and schools
- Covering areas including (but not limited to):
London, Guildford - Locations may vary depending on contracts, and you may occasionally travel further afield. We will help with transport where possible
- Depending on your home address, we will usually arrange a convenient collection point for you and a member of our team. This will be discussed during your interview
- Preparing surfaces (filling, sanding, caulking)
- Mastering the art of paint application (rolling, cutting in, brush skills)
- Sprucing up gloss work (doors and window frames, skirtings)
- Getting outdoors with external works (railings, sheds, fences and walls)
- Exploring different sites, working both inside and outside in all weather
- Attend college to understand the “how and why” of your trade (usually 1 day a week)
- Build an awesome portfolio of evidence for your End Point Assessment (EPA)
- Be a valued team member and contribute to our overall success
No prior experience needed! Just bring:
- A genuine passion for painting and decorating and practical, hands-on work
- A positive attitude and problem-solving mindset
- Commitment to building your career at Ian Williams – we’re as committed to you as you are to us
- Strong organisational skills (to juggle college and work)
- GCSE (or equivalent) grade 1(G) or above in Maths and English
- Eligibility to work in the UK on a permanent basis (we are unable to sponsor visas)
