The CNC Machining Instructor is responsible for delivering comprehensive theoretical and practical training in Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machining to students at a Erie Institute of Technology. The ideal candidate will combine extensive industry experience with a passion for teaching, preparing students for successful careers as CNC machining technicians.
Key Responsibilities
Instruction and Curriculum
Develop and deliver engaging lectures, hands-on labs, and demonstrations
Teach skills in: CNC Programming for milling and turning centers; CAD/CAM software utilization (e.g., Mastercam) for toolpath generation; CNC and Manual Machine setup and operation , including tooling selection, work holding, and fixturing.
Machine maintenance, troubleshooting, and quality control processes.
Evaluate student performance through practical assignments, tests, and projects, providing constructive feedback.
Maintain and update curriculum content to reflect current industry standards, technologies, and best practices.
Lab Management and Safety
Ensure a safe, clean, and organized learning environment in the CNC lab, strictly enforcing safety protocols.
Maintain CNC machinery, tools, and equipment in proper working order, coordinating repairs and replacements as needed.
Manage inventory of consumables, materials, and tooling required for student training.
Professionalism and Student Support
Serve as a mentor to students, offering guidance on career pathways, job search strategies, and industry expectations.
Participate in faculty meetings, professional development activities, and school events.
Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and progress.
Required Qualifications
Education:
Combination of extensive industry experience and relevant certifications.
Experience:
A minimum of three (3) years of verifiable, recent experience as a CNC Machinist, Programmer, or related role in a manufacturing environment.
Technical Proficiency: with manual mills (Bridgeport) and manual lathes (Willis); knowledge of G-code and M-code programming;
Proficiency with modern CAD/CAM software; understanding of machine tool operation, cutting tools, speeds and feeds calculations, and quality inspection techniques.
Soft Skills:
Excellent verbal and written communication, strong organizational skills, and the ability to effectively teach and manage a diverse group of adult learners.
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay:
From $26.00 per hour
Expected hours:
No more than 40.0 per week
