OverviewThis role focuses on critical infrastructure projects with an emphasis on bridge construction and heavy highway work. The Engineer will play a key role in the design of bridge falsework and overhang systems, primarily supporting PennDOT projects. The ideal candidate has a strong background in structural engineering, excels in precision-driven design work, and is highly proficient in AutoCAD and MathCAD.
This position is essential to ensuring the safety, compliance, and structural integrity of engineered systems. The Engineer must hold an active Pennsylvania Professional Engineer (PE) license and will be responsible for reviewing and stamping engineering drawings.
Key Responsibilities- Design concrete formwork and falsework systems for bridge construction projects
- Perform rigorous structural calculations using MathCAD to verify safety and compliance
- Prepare material takeoffs and cost estimates during pre-bid and construction phases
- Ensure all designs meet PennDOT specifications, standards, and design manuals
- Collaborate with project managers, sales teams, and clients to develop effective engineering solutions
- Review, approve, and stamp engineering drawings as a licensed Pennsylvania PE
- Maintain accurate and organized project documentation
- Provide technical support and guidance to internal teams
- Stay current with industry standards, best practices, and emerging technologies
- Strong proficiency in AutoCAD and MathCAD
- Solid understanding of structural analysis and design principles
- Experience with material takeoffs and construction estimating
- In-depth knowledge of PennDOT standards and regulations
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze complex engineering challenges
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, team-based environment
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related field
- Active Professional Engineer (PE) license in the state of Pennsylvania
- Minimum of 3–5 years of structural engineering experience
- Experience with bridge falsework or heavy highway construction strongly preferred
