The MSL identifies disease- and product-related medical needs within a defined geography and supports scientific exchange, education, data generation, insight generation, and patient access to medicine.
The MSL role embodies our medical mission to be recognized as the trusted partner for internal stakeholders and the healthcare community, driving scientific exchange to enhance medical education, data generation, insight generation and patients’ access to medicine. The Regional Oncology MSL is field-based and is anticipated to spend the majority of time in the field with external customers.
Key Responsibilities- The Regional Oncology MSL role is field-based, with the majority of time spent in the field with external customers.
- Serve as an educational resource for external Oncology stakeholders in the community.
- Communicate scientific and medical information supporting Multiple Myeloma and future Oncology pipeline assets.
- Support the safe, effective, and appropriate use of BMS medicines.
- Engage in scientific dialogue around Multiple Myeloma disease management, including clinical value-based discussions where appropriate.
- External environment and customer focus; demonstrate strong medical and cross-functional collaboration.
- Develop and maintain relationships with community-based thought leaders, appropriate community HCPs, and access stakeholders to address clinical and/or scientific questions.
- Use various interaction channels (face-to-face 1:1 or group presentation; virtual).
- Demonstrate proficiency in using available scientific resources and presentations; present information to HCPs with medical accuracy and compliance.
- Excellent presentation skills and the ability to respond to questions.
- Assess the medical and healthcare landscape by meeting with TLs/HCPs to understand needs and expertise.
- Continuously update knowledge in treatment strategies, products, unmet medical needs, clinical trials and scientific activities.
- Understand the competitive landscape and address informational needs of customers.
- Collect and provide meaningful medical insights to medical and commercial organizations to support strategy development.
- Adapt to changes in objectives and territory with a focus on Community HCPs and institutional needs.
- Demonstrate understanding of HEOR and access resources as required.
- Field execution of established Medical Plans and contribute to cross-functional institution/account plans.
- Contribute to development and delivery of scientifically meaningful medical programs/projects aligned with local Medical and Field Medical plans.
- Provide initial and ongoing medical/scientific area and product training and transfer key updates to internal stakeholders (e.g., Commercial, Pharmacovigilance, Legal, HEOR, Market Access, Portfolio marketing).
- MD, Pharm
D, PhD, APP, PA, NP with experience in a specific disease area or broad medical/pharmaceutical background.
- Disease area knowledge and understanding of scientific publications; knowledge of clinical trials and the healthcare and access environment; HEOR concepts; excellent English language skills.
- Minimum 2 years in a pharmaceutical environment; prior MSL experience required; ability to work independently and as part of a team; strong communication and presentation skills; ability to translate scientific data for physicians; build peer relationships; quick learner; alignment with BMS values.
- Ability to drive a company-provided car is an essential qualification; valid ethics, integrity, and safe driving history; enterprise mindset; authentic leadership; change agility; growth mindset; talent development; active participation in meetings; completion of administrative tasks.
