As a Senior Director, Biostatistics, at Gilead you will demonstrate leadership and strategic thinking to guide biostatistical initiatives and cross-functional programs. You will lead internal and external teams across multifunctional project or functional areas, coordinate data gathering and analysis from diverse sources, and influence strategic direction and collaboration with external partners as a Company-wide resource. You will communicate scientifically and build relationships across the organization and with external academic or government entities.
You will also contribute to business understanding beyond biostatistics and help ensure regulatory, scientific, and business objectives are met.
- Direct internal and external teams across multifunctional project or functional areas and lead initiatives to gather, organize, and analyze data from different sources.
- Manage and lead highly effective cross-functional teams with a clear sense of direction.
- Be viewed as a key resource by more senior individuals on departmental strategic initiatives.
- Determine the functions most critical to company success and support priorities within the functional area.
- Specialize within a particular Therapeutic Area/indication or technical area to serve as a Company-wide resource as appropriate.
- Use all available vehicles for effective scientific communication within and outside the company.
- Set up and influence collaborations with external academic or government organizations to extend visibility or business needs.
- Demonstrate a good understanding of the business beyond Biostatistics and be a recognized authority outside the company.
- Communicate effectively—verbal and written—within group settings and with stakeholders.
- Influence clinical development strategies using competitive intelligence and knowledge of regulatory requirements to meet regulatory, scientific, and business objectives.
- Lead a specific component of a departmental strategic initiative and apply generalizability to apply solutions to similar problems.
- Anticipate potential problems and positively impact processes and projects by influencing peers, cross-functional colleagues, and managers.
- Basic Qualifications – 12+ years of industry experience in the statistical analysis of biomedical data with a PhD degree in Biostatistics or equivalent; programming capability with SAS or R; understanding of SDTM/ADaM standards.
- Preferred Qualifications – Experience with rheumatic diseases and inflammation.

The salary range for this position is: $ - $. Gilead considers a variety of factors when determining base compensation, including experience, qualifications, and geographic location. Actual compensation will vary. This position may also be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, discretionary stock-based long-term incentives (eligibility may vary based on role), paid time off, and a benefits package. Benefits include company-sponsored medical, dental, vision, and life insurance plans.
