Responsibilities
- Serve as domain owner for biologics data engineering (projects, sources, systems, and data flows).
- Inform DSCS Digital Data Strategy.
- Design and implement robust, scalable ETL/ELT data pipelines ingesting experimental/process data (process historians, chromatography, electronic lab notebooks, analytical instruments).
- Deliver analysis-ready datasets (process characterization models, data lineage, multivariate analytics, cross-site manufacturing connectivity).
- Define/enforce data standards, metadata schemas, and ontology mappings for interoperability.
- Align with automation teams to support new/modified automated workflows and new data streams.
- Own/govern system of record standards for consistent configuration and data entry.
- Catalog processes, analytical methods, instruments, and digital systems.
- Develop and maintain dashboards/reports for scientists across runs, molecules, scales, and sites.
- Mentor and guide supporting data engineers; influence domain strategy.
- Version pipeline code in Git Hub with standards for review, documentation, and deployment.
- Partner with process development, analytical scientists, and manufacturing teams on requirements.
- Ph.D. (3+ years relevant industrial/pharma experience) or M.S. (5+ years) or B.S. (7+ years) in relevant fields.
- Python and/or R;
Jupyter/Posit/RStudio/VS Code. - Strong SQL (relational DBs/data warehouses).
- ETL/ELT and pipeline experience in scientific/pharma context.
- Cloud familiarity (AWS/Azure/GCP).
- Understanding of process models, multivariate/statistical tools and dataset structuring.
- Experience with data standards/metadata/ontology mappings.
- Git/Git Hub; lead initiatives and mentor.
- Biologics process development experience (chromatography/filtration/purification/formulation) transitioning into data.
- Databricks/Delta Lake; visualization tools (Streamlit/Shiny/PowerBI/Spotfire/Tableau).
- Ontology frameworks (e.g., Allotrope, ISA-88, OPC-UA);
DoE and CPP/CQA structuring; data lineage.
Salary range: $–$; eligible for annual bonus/long-term incentive (if applicable).
