• Planting, digging, mulching, transplanting, mowing, watering, weed eating, and pulling weeds in nurseries and seasonal greenhouses.
• Fertilize, prune, spray, space, water, tag, and perform other plant maintenance.
• Occasionally aid in the spreading / spraying of chemicals on plants.
• Clean and sweep greenhouses, including under tables.
• Operate electric power conveyor belts, pot filling equipment, and dirt equipment.
• Count and inventory plants, plastic, and soil.
• Propagate plants from cuttings.
• Load plants onto carts and trucks; move carts manually as well as with electric tugging machines (Pack Mules).
• Remove plastic from seasonal greenhouses in the spring and re-cover with plastic in the fall.
• Assist with the maintenance of greenhouses.
• Pot and plant bare roots and field‑grown plants, perform general maintenance on field‑grown plants.
• Fill, lift, and carry various sized pots containing soil and plants weighing as much as 60 pounds.
• Work in the field for long periods of time.
• Load carts and trucks with products weighing up to and including 60 pounds and lift to a height of 6 feet.
• Hang baskets overhead on drip lines and lower baskets to fill orders.
• Work on feet in bent positions for long periods of time.
• Operate and maintain agricultural equipment such as power shears, chainsaws, high lifts, fork lifts, Pack Mules, tractors, and other nursery equipment.
• Move, drive, or relocate box trucks as needed to load and unload plant material.

All work involves exposure to wet weather early in the morning through the heat of the day, working in the outside perennial / annual fields as well as in greenhouse ranges.

All work may expose the employee to allergies to ragweed, goldenrod, insect spray related chemicals, etc., which may affect the ability to perform the job.

Work will include heavy mechanized field work using power equipment. By way of example and not limited to: power equipment may include power shears, chainsaws, high lifts, fork lifts, Pack Mules, and tractors. Workers will be expected to operate and maintain agricultural equipment with or without direction.
