Custom Engineering Company is seeking a 2nd Shift CNC Machinist to set up and operate CNC lathes and mills producing precision components for industrial equipment. You will interpret blueprints, load programs, select tooling, and make offsets to maintain tight tolerances. Responsibilities include performing in-process inspections with calipers, micrometers, and gauges, completing production documentation, and following safety and quality procedures. You'll collaborate with engineers and weld/fab teams to resolve machining issues and improve processes while supporting continuous improvement in a stable, engineering-driven, customer-focused environment.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate CNC mills and lathes for production runs on 2nd shift
  • Interpret blueprints, work instructions, and GD&T to machine precision components
  • Load, verify, and adjust CNC programs, tooling, and offsets to maintain tolerances
  • Perform in-process inspections using precision measuring instruments and document results
  • Monitor machine performance, troubleshoot issues, and perform basic preventive maintenance
  • Follow all safety, quality, and housekeeping procedures in the machining area
  • Collaborate with engineers and fabrication teams to resolve machining and quality issues
  • Recommend and support process improvements to enhance quality and throughput
  • Maintain accurate production records, job travelers, and machine setup sheets
  • Train or assist less experienced machinists as needed on setups and best practices
