Custom Engineering Company is seeking a reliable 2nd Shift Machine Operator to support production of precision industrial components in our Erie, PA facility. In this hands-on role, you will set up, operate, and monitor CNC and manual machines, read blueprints and work instructions, and perform in-process inspections using precision measuring tools to maintain tight tolerances. You'll follow strict safety and quality standards, document production data, and collaborate with engineering and maintenance to resolve issues.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and monitor CNC and manual machines safely on 2nd shift
  • Set up machines, load materials, and verify tooling and fixtures per job specs
  • Read and interpret blueprints, work orders, and measurement drawings
  • Perform in process quality checks using calipers, micrometers, and gauges
  • Adjust machine settings to maintain tolerances and product quality
  • Document production data, counts, and inspection results accurately
  • Follow all safety procedures, lockout/tagout, and housekeeping standards
  • Collaborate with maintenance, engineering, and team members to resolve issues
  • Support continuous improvement, 5
  • S, and lean manufacturing initiatives
  • Perform basic preventive maintenance and report machine problems promptly
