Fitting & Welding Foreman – 2nd Shift
Location: York, PA
Job Type: Direct Hire
Shift: 2nd Shift
Starting Pay: $39.00/hour — higher depending on experience
2nd Shift Differential: Additional $3.00/hour
MUST HAVE:
- Structural steel fabrication industry experience
- Leadership experience overseeing welders and fitters
We are seeking an experienced Fitting & Welding Foreman to lead second-shift operations in a structural steel fabrication shop. This is a hands-on supervisory position responsible for coordinating personnel, production activities, materials, equipment, quality, and schedules.
- Lead and provide direction to welders, fitters, and other shop personnel
- Oversee daily fabrication and production activities during 2nd Shift
- Assign work and balance workloads based on production requirements
- Monitor production and fabrication schedules and make adjustments when needed
- Coordinate deliveries and help keep projects on schedule
- Establish and communicate standard fabrication procedures
- Monitor workmanship and enforce quality-control requirements
- Identify ways to improve productivity, efficiency, employee performance, and finished-product quality
- Coordinate with other departments and fabrication locations regarding production status, quality, materials, and delivery requirements
- Maintain shop equipment, tools, and facilities as needed
- Monitor inventory and coordinate material requirements with the First Shift Foreman, Operations Management, and Purchasing
- Work with vendors and suppliers as necessary
- Determine staffing and work hours needed to support delivery schedules
- Keep management informed of workload, production concerns, and operational needs
- Enforce company policies, safety procedures, and workplace standards
- Make operational decisions that support production and company objectives
- Required:
Structural steel fabrication industry experience - Required:
Previous leadership experience supervising welders and fitters - Managerial or supervisory experience
- Detailed knowledge of structural steel fabrication operations
- Strong spoken and written English
- Strong leadership, communication, customer service, and interpersonal skills
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced fabrication environment
- Must be available for 2nd Shift, overtime, and Saturdays as needed
