Position: Registered Nurse - Southwestern Veterans' Center (2nd, and 3rd Shift)

THE POSITION

The Department of Military & Veterans Affairs, Southwestern Veterans Center provides dedicated, superior care to our veteran residents and their spouses. We are seeking hard‑working, enthusiastic, compassionate, and caring people who are committed to providing exceptional care to our residents.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

Our Registered Nurses are responsible for the total nursing care and related services given to residents on designated units, ensuring adherence to HIPAA standards. They establish and maintain a therapeutic environment emphasizing rehabilitative, restorative, skilled, supportive, and palliative nursing care, thereby improving residents’ quality of life.

WORK HOURS AND ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
  • Full‑time employment (8 hours/day; 40 hours/week).
  • Positions are available on the following shifts:
    • 2nd shift (2:00 PM – 10:30 PM)
    • 3rd shift (10:00 PM – 6:30 AM)
  • Rotating holidays and weekends. Working every other weekend is required.
  • Lunch period: 30 minutes.
  • Competitive salary and state benefits including health, dental, vision, life insurance, vacation, sick, holiday leave, and retirement plan.
  • No telework option.
  • Starting annual salary for new employees: $92,052.00 (before taxes).
  • Under the Nursing Referral Program, eligible employees and referred candidates may receive payments of up to $4,000.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS
  • Active authorization to practice as a Registered Nurse in Pennsylvania.
  • Employees with a temporary practice permit must obtain a RN license within one year.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
  • PA residency requirement currently waived.
  • Applicants within 60 days of graduating from an approved nursing school are eligible.
  • Must be able to perform essential job functions.
LEGAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Falls under the Older Adult Protective Services Act; criminal history reports may be required.
  • Medical examination may be required for conditional offer.
TELECOMMUNICATIONS RELAY SERVICE (TRS)
  • For hearing and speech disabilities or other individuals: 711.
