UPMC Hamot is seeking a full-time Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Labor & Delivery team.
Position Details:
- Full-time, 36 hours per week
- Rotating day/night shifts
- Includes weekends and holidays
- Requires on-call hours in addition to regularly scheduled shifts
- 1-2 years of RN experience required
- Title and starting pay rate will be based on years of experience and qualifications
The Professional Staff Nurse is a Registered Nurse and key member of the care delivery team, responsible for providing high-quality patient care while setting standards for excellence in nursing practice. This role assumes responsibility, authority, and accountability for patient care delivery through the application of clinical judgment, collaboration, communication, and leadership.
The Professional Staff Nurse manages care for patients and their families, working closely with physicians and interdisciplinary team members to achieve optimal patient outcomes across the continuum of care. This position emphasizes leadership, partnership, collaboration, and professional development while maintaining a commitment to the community and the nursing profession.
Responsibilities:- Develop and maintain productive relationships with patients, families, colleagues, and interdisciplinary team members through accountability, professionalism, and effective communication.
- Foster an inclusive and respectful work environment by demonstrating cultural awareness and promoting healthy workplace relationships.
- Support patient, family, student, and staff education through the application of adult learning principles and evidence-based teaching practices.
- Serve as a mentor or preceptor, supporting the development of students, new staff members, and colleagues.
- Apply the nursing process within the framework of Relationship-Based Care to create a healing environment and deliver patient-centered care.
- Develop individualized plans of care that address patients' clinical, social, psychological, spiritual, and safety needs.
- Utilize critical thinking and sound clinical judgment to assess patient conditions and recommend appropriate interventions.
- Maintain comprehensive and accurate documentation to support continuity of care and effective communication among caregivers.
- Promote patient safety, quality outcomes, and patient satisfaction by incorporating professional standards, organizational goals, and best practices into care delivery.
- Create a compassionate, patient-focused experience by building meaningful relationships with patients, families, and colleagues.
- Demonstrate accountability for ongoing professional growth and actively participate in shared governance, quality initiatives, and practice improvement efforts.
- Serve as an engaged member of the care team by collaborating with colleagues, supporting change initiatives, and contributing to a positive practice environment.
- Participate in unit- and department-specific quality improvement activities, identifying opportunities to enhance patient care and operational effectiveness.
- Utilize research and evidence-based practice to improve clinical outcomes, contribute to multidisciplinary discussions, and influence patient care planning.
- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
- BSNpreferred.
- 0-2yearsofnursingexperiencerequired.
- Demonstrated ability to provide age-appropriate care and effectively interact with patients across the lifespan.
- Knowledge of growth and development principles and the ability to assess, interpret, and respond to patient needs based on age-specific requirements.
- Strong clinical judgment, critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to apply and lead others in the nursing process.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to establish and maintain positive, collaborative relationships with physicians, providers, leaders, staff, patients, and families.
