Position Summary:

The Food Service Aide performs various food service functions, maintains clean and sanitary conditions of food service areas, and may assist in food preparation.

Responsibilities:

  • Report at assigned time, in uniform, ready for duty
  • Handle food and equipment according to sanitation policies and procedures
  • Follow safety regulations when operating equipment
  • Deliver food carts, trays, etc., to designated areas, including resident rooms and dining rooms, as instructed
  • Serve in dining rooms
  • Prepare and deliver snacks as directed
  • Assist in cleaning duties according to policies and procedures
  • Report discrepancies to supervisor
  • Provide high-quality, compassionate service to residents and families
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
  • Educational/Vocational Requirements:

    Ability to read, write, and understand English; previous Food Service Aide experience is helpful.

    Job Skills:

  • Knowledge of food handling and serving methods
  • Understanding of sanitation practices
  • Ability to follow diet lists, portion food, and serve attractively
  • Effective interaction with staff, residents, families, visitors, and the public
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and follow oral and written instructions in English
  • Provide annual verification of a negative TB skin test
