The anticipated start date for this position will be in June 2026
POSITION WILL HAVE JOB SITE REPORTING LOCATIONS THROUGHOUT THE 5 COUNTY GREATER PHILADELPHIA AREA.
Level DescriptionsAdvance level
This is an advanced level position with duties of installing, maintaining and repairing Electrical Substation Protective Systems, such as Protective Relaying, System Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA), Communications Systems, adherence to safe work practices and the support of a safe work culture, including ability to follow procedures. Typically, this person would start as an Engineering Technician B or in progression and will be expected to progress to Engineering Technician A (Journey Level).
The ability to work various shifts may be required. The work is in both inside and outside at various substation or recloser locations. The job requires the ability to respond to emergency situations in various roles. Work includes job site reporting across the PECO service territory.
Entry Level
This is an entry level position with duties of installing, maintaining and repairing Electrical Substation Protective Systems, such as Protective Relaying, System Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA), Communications Systems, adherence to safe work practices and the support of a safe work culture, including ability to follow procedures. Typically, this person would be in progression and be expected to progress to Engineering Technician
A. This position would be expected to be able to achieve basic skills to assist Engineering Technician A and Master Technicians. The ability to work various shifts may be required. The work is often in outside field conditions at various substations and equipment locations. The job requires the ability to respond to emergency situations in various roles. Work includes job site reporting across the PECO service territory.
Duties
Advanced Level
- Follow all safety rules and procedures along with verbal and written directions from supervision.
- Perform preventative, corrective, and predictive maintenance tasks on transmission-class and distribution-class electrical substation equipment, including troubleshooting of AC/DC control systems and electro-mechanical systems.
- Perform commissioning tasks for new construction of substation transformers, circuit breakers, switch gear, bus work and associated control wiring.
- Plan, prepare and coordinate work using established processes and a variety of computer software.
- Respond to call/outs/emergencies/storm duty on a 24 x 7 basis and perform shift work and overtime as needed.
- Seek out and adopt new innovative technologies.
Entry Level
Work includes job site reporting anywhere across the PECO service territory.
- Work safely using proper work procedures and work practices.
- Installing, maintaining and repairing Electrical Substation Protective Systems, such as Protective Relaying, System Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA), Communications Systems.
- Interpret test results and assist Engineering with the trending of test data.
- Perform work with Substation Maintenance crews in conjunction with maintenance and installations as required.
- Complete required work management planning and work reporting tasks as required.
Minimum Qualifications
Advanced Level
- Two (2) year Degree/ education in an Electronic/ Electrical discipline and/or equivalent.
- Valid Driver's license and ability to meet company driving standards.
- Regular access to an insured personal vehicle
- Must be able to report to various work locations in the PECO service territory AND must be able to work shifts as needed.
- Knowledge of electrical theory and concepts (e.g. AC/DC electrical theory).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Knowledge of Transmission, Distribution and Industrial electrical power equipment.
- Proficient in the use of computers and software applications (e.g. MS Office, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, MS Project)
- Must be able to respond to emergency situations (7 days a week, 24 hours a day).
