Maintenance Repairman - Danville State Hospital

THE POSITION

This position supports the repair and upkeep of buildings, machinery, and equipment throughout Danville State Hospital. As a Maintenance Repairman 2, you will perform the following duties:

• Carpentry Tasks:
  Construct and repair wooden structures, cabinets, frames, and related materials.
• Masonry Work:
  Build wooden or steel forms, place concrete, and finish slabs, sidewalks, ramps, and walls.
• Door Systems:
  Repair doors, frames, hardware, and locking mechanisms including electronic systems.
• Surface Installation:
  Install and repair flooring, sheetrock, plaster, tile, and other surface materials.
• Mechanical Repairs:
  Operate equipment to fabricate or fix metal components and complete roofing tasks.
• Electrical And Plumbing:
  Repair circuits, switches, faucets, drains, and various water or heat systems.

• Full‑time employment, 37.5 hours per week.
• Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday – Friday, with a 30‑minute lunch. Schedule may change based on operational needs.
• Overtime as needed.
• Free parking.
• No telework option.
• Salary may be non‑negotiable in some cases.

Minimum experience and training requirements:

• Two years of experience as a Maintenance Repairman 1 (or equivalent Commonwealth or Federal title).
• Four years of building and plant maintenance work, involving at least two of the building, electrical, or mechanical trades.
• Or an equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

• You must meet the PA residency requirement.
• You must be able to perform essential job functions.

• A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.
• This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
• Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including PA State Police and FBI clearance.
