DESCRIPTIONOF WORK
This position supports the repair and upkeep of buildings, machinery, and equipment throughout Danville State Hospital. As a Maintenance Repairman 2, you will perform the following duties:
- Carpentry Tasks:
Construct and repair wooden structures, cabinets, frames, and related materials. - Masonry Work:
Build wooden or steel forms, place concrete, and finish slabs, sidewalks, ramps, and walls. - Door Systems:
Repair doors, frames, hardware, and locking mechanisms including electronic systems. - Surface Installation:
Install and repair flooring, sheetrock, plaster, tile, and other surface materials. - Mechanical Repairs:
Operate equipment to fabricate or fix metal components and complete roofing tasks. - Electrical And Plumbing:
Repair circuits, switches, faucets, drains, and various water or heat systems.
- Full‑time employment, 37.5 hours per week.
- Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday – Friday, with a 30‑minute lunch. Schedule may change based on operational needs.
- Overtime as needed.
- Free parking.
- No telework option.
- Salary may be non‑negotiable in some cases.
Minimum experience and training requirements:
- Two years of experience as a Maintenance Repairman 1 (or equivalent Commonwealth or Federal title).
- Four years of building and plant maintenance work, involving at least two of the building, electrical, or mechanical trades.
- Or an equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
- You must meet the PA residency requirement.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
- A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.
- This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
- Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including PA State Police and FBI clearance.
- Completing the application, including all supplemental questions, serves as your exam for this position. No additional exam is required at a test center.
