THE POSITION
As a Maintenance Repairman 1 with the Department of General Services, Facilities Management, you will play a key role in keeping Commonwealth buildings operating smoothly. This position gives you the opportunity to solve problems, improve work spaces, and support daily operations. You will be working with many types of repairs and equipment, making each day different and engaging. The job provides purpose, teamwork, and the satisfaction of seeing real results from your efforts.
DESCRIPTIONOF WORK
This role focuses on repairing equipment, maintaining building structures, and completing skilled tasks across several trades. As a Maintenance Repairman 1, you will perform the following duties:
- Carpentry Tasks:
Perform carpentry repairs such as fixing partitions, wood fixtures, floors, and wall-mounted items - Door Maintenance:
Repair or replace door frames and adjust hinges, locks, and closures - Electrical Support:
Relamp fixtures, clean lenses, test emergency lights, and assist electricians on major projects - Equipment Repair:
Complete minor repairs on small motorized equipment and report major repair needs to supervisors - Plumbing Work:
Open blocked drains, repair faucets, replace parts, clean drains, and respond to leaks - Painting Preparation:
Prepare surfaces, make minor repairs, and apply paint to interior and exterior areas
This position is considered essential. You will be required to report to work during emergencies and office closings.
Work Schedule and Additional Information:- Full-time employment
- Work hours are 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch.

You will not have the option to telework in this position. - Salary:
In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.
- Two years of experience in general maintenance work which has involved at least two of the building, electrical, or mechanical trades; or
- Any equivalent combination of experience and training that affords the applicant with the Required Knowledges, Skills, and Abilities.
- You must possess a valid Pennsylvania Class C Driver's License.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
