Forklift Operator
As a Forklift Operator at PRO Pallet, you are responsible for safely operating a forklift in compliance with all company and safety standards. You must be proactive, attentive to your surroundings, and adhere to safety protocols to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the facility.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate the forklift with caution, always wearing your seatbelt and driving at a safe speed.
- Maintain awareness of your surroundings to ensure the safety of employees and company property.
- Avoid running over plastic shrink wrap and banding. Pick it up immediately to avoid costly repairs (average labor cost for removal is $230, excluding radiator damage).
- Turn off the forklift’s lights and gas at the end of every shift.
- Do not leave the motor running and lights on during breaks, lunch, or when away from the unit for an extended period
- Complete a Forklift Operator Daily Checklist and submit it to the Human Resources office by your first break (9:00 AM - 9:15 AM). No exceptions.
- If operating a different forklift due to repairs or other reasons, fill out a new Daily Checklist for the new unit.
Trailer and Dock Operations:
- After loading/unloading a trailer, ensure the dock plate is securely placed down before the jockey can move the trailer.
Safety Compliance:
- Maintain your valid, certified PRO Pallet forklift license on your person at all times while operating a forklift.
- Follow all plant safety rules and OSHA requirements, ensuring your operation complies with the required forklift safety standards.
- Be prepared to fill in for other operators in different areas of the plant when needed.
Knowledge and Experience Requirements:
- Must pass the required forklift safety test in accordance with OSHA standards.
- Must adhere to all plant safety rules and OSHA regulations.
- Failure to comply with these requirements may result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination.
Schedule:
- Monday – Thursday: 7:00 AM – 3:45 PM
- Friday: 7:00 AM - 2:30 PM
- Occasional voluntary overtime
