Welder​/Fitter

Custom Engineering, a leader in the precision manufacturing sector, is seeking a skilled Welder / Fitter to join our team. With a focus on the aviation and defense industries, we pride ourselves in producing exceptionally high-quality complex parts. The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining our standards of excellence in welding and fitting operations, working on both standard and innovative projects.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret project plans, blueprints, and other written instructions and diagrams to perform task at hand.
• Perform MIG, TIG, and other types of weld based on project needs.
• Field install welds, including duct work, light fixtures, vents, fans, metal sheeting, and other parts.
• Select proper fillers for jobs based on previous experience or project instructions.
• Coordinate with field labor crew for efficient installations.
• Ensure all projects are workmanlike manner and completed according to safety codes.
• Examine work pieces for defects and measure work pieces with straightedges or templates to ensure conformance with specifications.

Required Skills

• Proficiency in MIG, TIG, flux core, and other welding techniques.
• Strong understanding of metallurgy principles.
• Ability to use heavy machinery, such as forklifts and cranes.
• Adept at technical plans, blueprints, and sketches.
• Good communication skills to deal with diverse teams.
