THE POSITION

You will lead both classroom lessons and practical training sessions that prepare participants for real job tasks.
Your guidance will help maintain safe operations and support meaningful vocational development.
This role focuses on teaching plumbing trade skills and directing daily training activities for inmates. You will provide instruction, oversee work crews, and ensure that tools, materials, and safety standards are managed properly. As a Corrections Plumbing Trade Instructor, you will perform the following duties:
- Training Instruction:
Teach classroom lessons, lead hands-on plumbing training, and explain trade methods and procedures - Work Crew Direction:
Guide inmate work crews, review completed tasks, and plan daily schedules for assignments - Tool Control:
Issue materials, track inventory, and conduct searches to confirm all items are accounted for - Material Planning:
Determine supplies needed for plumbing tasks and submit purchase requests for tools and materials - Record Keeping:
Maintain documentation for training progress, attendance, and work assignment details

Work Schedule and Additional Information:- Full-time employment, 40-hour work week
- Work hours are 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday.

- Five years of experience in the inspection, maintenance, repair, assembly, and installation of pipes, fittings, and fixtures used in heating, water, and drainage systems; or
- Completion of an approved apprenticeship in the plumbing trade; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training which includes one year of journey level work in the plumbing trade.

- Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
- You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
