Sr Mobile Diesel Technician – Fleet Services

Position located in City/State with flexible work options available. Requires 100% travel and night shift availability. Hourly base rate $32.26 - $48.41 per hour, with potential for additional compensation through commissions and incentive programs.

Responsibilities
  • Perform scheduled preventative maintenance (PM), DOT inspections, and follow‑up repairs on light, medium, and heavy‑duty vehicles in a mobile/field environment.
  • Conduct minor adjustments and repairs on truck equipment including electrical, brake, cooling, starters, alternators, fan clutches, engine electronics, diesel steering systems, engines, transmissions, clutches, and differentials.
  • Diagnose, adjust, and repair truck equipment; inspect, test, and use test instruments such as handheld computers and pressure gauges.
  • Road‑test vehicles to ensure proper operation and diagnose malfunctions.
  • Manage parts inventory, maintain company‑issued service truck, and perform safety checks and pre/post‑trip inspections.
  • Provide technical support to customers and manage concurrent tasks, prioritizing work‑related activities.
  • Use hand tools, precision instruments, diesel tools, welding equipment, lifts, and jacks.
  • Document work in company repair orders and upload pictures using the TRAIT application on iOS.
  • Accurately complete DOT forms and other documentation promptly.
  • Maintain high productivity close to standard repair times and obtain parts from approved vendors as needed.
  • Communicate with management and support team to obtain repair estimates, purchase orders, and discuss repair findings.
  • Perform all work in compliance with safety, health, environmental policies and federal regulations (OSHA, EPA, DOT).
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED with 5 years of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must possess a set of hand tools necessary for the role.
  • Ability to lift, bend, climb, stand, and walk for long periods; ability to perform moderately heavy labor and repetitive tasks.
  • Valid driver’s license and safe driving record; must hold a state‑of‑residence license and maintain a Driver Qualification File.
  • Eligible to complete DOT‑regulated background screening, DOT physical, and hold a valid DOT medical card with at least four months remaining.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Ability to perform technical diagnostics and triage of complex repairs.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to assess client needs and resolve issues.
  • Ability to use logic and reasoning to evaluate alternatives and make decisions.
Certifications
  • Required within 18 months: ASE T8 (PMI) and ASE 608/609.
