Senior Operations Manager, Air

The Air Hub Senior Operations Manager has complete responsibility for inbound, outbound, package sortation and ramp operations or a functional process responsibility within the hub on a specified shift or across multiple shifts.

• Lead and manage the outbound, inbound, package sortation and ramp operations within the Air Hub
• Responsible for the overall safety, quality, performance and customer experience of the shift
• Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and procedures
• Accountability for meeting and exceeding operational goals
• Strategic planning and forecasting; appraise performance; reward and discipline employees; resolve problems; and address staffing needs
• Mentor, train and develop teammates for career progression and learning
• Develop and share best practices across the shifts and network
• Develop and implement processes required to support hub launch
• Drive process improvements and keep pace with explosive growth while motivating others in a deadline‑driven environment

• Lift and move totes up to 49 pounds each
• Regular bending, lifting, stretching and reaching both below the waist and above the head
• Walk throughout the building and around a quarter‑mile‑long area frequently
• Stand and walk for up to 10–12 hours
• Work in environments with variable noise levels, lighting conditions and temperature variation
• Access all areas of building, ascend and descend ladders, stairs, gangways safely and without limitation

• Individuals hired into this position will have unescorted access privileges to airport security identification display areas (SIDA); eligibility requires passing FAA, DHS, and TSA security screening as applicable
• Secure appropriate airport authority and/or US Customs security badges, if applicable
• Exhibit full and unimpaired skills and judgment to safely execute duties and ensure the safety and security of Amazon AIR personnel, contractors, airport personnel, cargo, and equipment
• Position is safety‑sensitive and subject to mandatory pre‑employment and, where permitted, post‑hire drug testing

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, commerce, business administration or equivalent, or 2+ years of Amazon experience
• Experience with performance metrics, process improvement, and Lean techniques
• Experience in operations management of fulfillment or distribution centers
• Work a flexible schedule, including evenings, overnights, and weekends

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (any domain), Operations, Business Administration, or related field
• Experience with automated equipment including packaging machinery, sortation and conveyor systems
• Experience with process improvements (Lean Six Sigma and/or Kaizen)
• Experience identifying and solving complex problems through data analysis
• Experience delivering against a large organization’s long‑term strategy and goals
• 3+ years of aviation regulatory compliance experience

Base salary range:  –  USD annually.
