SUMMARY

The qualified individual must be an evangelical Christian who is committed to living a biblical lifestyle and is in full agreement with the school's Statement of Faith. He or she should consistently demonstrate and teach a biblical worldview while exemplifying Christlike character through patience, humility, integrity, kindness, and a teachable spirit.

The teacher should sense a clear calling from God to the teaching profession and be committed to partnering prayerfully with administration, faculty, students, and parents to maintain a school that is both distinctly Christian and academically excellent. As a second-grade teacher, he or she will play a crucial role in helping students strengthen foundational reading skills and successfully transition from learning to read to reading to learn in the upper elementary years.

The teacher will guide students in developing the academic skills, biblical understanding, and character necessary to become mature, responsible followers of Christ who glorify God in all they do.

Personal Qualifications

  • Be an evangelical Christian who fully subscribes to the school's Statement of Faith and demonstrates a growing relationship with Jesus Christ through regular Bible study, prayer, and faithful involvement in a Bible-believing church.
  • Serve as a Christlike role model in attitude, speech, conduct, and personal appearance, reflecting biblical standards in all areas of life.
  • Demonstrate a servant's heart, a teachable spirit, integrity, humility, and a commitment to Christian unity.
  • Follow biblical principles, including Matthew 18, when addressing concerns with students, parents, faculty, and administration.
  • Recognize parents as the primary educators of their children and partner with them in supporting each student's academic and spiritual growth.
  • Work collaboratively and professionally with students, parents, faculty, and administration while willingly participating in professional development and school activities.
  • Support and uphold school policies and leadership while providing constructive feedback through appropriate channels

Professional Qualifications

  • Hold appropriate education credentials and demonstrate strong knowledge of elementary instructional practices and child development.
  • Plan and deliver engaging, effective instruction that promotes academic excellence and active student learning.
  • Create a classroom environment that is safe, orderly, respectful, and conducive to learning.
  • Utilize a variety of instructional strategies, assessments, and resources to meet the needs of individual learners.
  • Maintain accurate records, communicate student progress effectively, and reflect on instructional practices for continuous improvement.
  • Demonstrate professionalism by working collaboratively with colleagues, supporting school initiatives, and carrying out assigned responsibilities.
  • Supervise students appropriately in all school settings, including classrooms, recess, assemblies, lunch periods, field trips, and other school activities.
  • Represent the school with professionalism, integrity, and a commitment to excellence in all interactions.

Parent Partnership

  • Communicate regularly with parents regarding classroom activities, student progress, and school events.
  • Foster positive relationships with families and encourage open communication.
  • Collaborate with parents to support student success both at school and at home.
  • Provide consistent updates through newsletters, emails, conferences, and other appropriate means.

Biblical Worldview Integration

  • Consistently teach from a biblical worldview and integrate Scripture throughout all subject areas.
  • Model and encourage biblical thinking, discipleship, and spiritual growth.
  • Lead students in prayer and cultivate a classroom culture that reflects Christian values.
  • Utilize approved curriculum and resources that align with the school's mission and doctrinal beliefs.
  • Equip students to think critically, defend their faith, and evaluate ideas through the lens of God's Word.

Qualifications

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

It is expected for the teacher to:

  • Hold a minimum of an elementary education bachelor's degree or equivalent.
  • Have completed student teaching and/or other educational field experience.

It is preferred (but not necessary) for the teacher to:

  • Have two or more years of classroom teaching experience.
