Summary
The Academic Curriculum Editor collaborates with curriculum writers, subject matter experts, and instructional designers to strengthen the instructional quality and consistency of curriculum throughout the development process. This individual reviews curriculum for developmental appropriateness, clarity, continuity, progression of learning, and alignment across lessons, units, grade levels, and subject areas.
The Academic Curriculum Editor ensures curriculum maintains a consistent voice, instructional language, terminology, formatting, educational philosophy, and progression of learning throughout the curriculum. This position also performs a developmental review for grammar, spelling, punctuation, readability, and organization while identifying opportunities to strengthen lesson flow and instructional effectiveness. Working collaboratively with the curriculum development team, the Academic Curriculum Editor helps produce cohesive, academically rigorous resources that equip students to understand God's Word, think biblically, and defend their faith.
Responsibilities
- Review curriculum for instructional quality, clarity, and grade-level appropriateness.
- Ensure consistency in writing style, tone, terminology, formatting, instructional language, and educational philosophy across all curriculum materials.
- Verify continuity and progression of concepts, vocabulary, biblical themes, skills, and learning objectives throughout the curriculum.
- Ensure instructional terminology, expectations, lesson structure, and educational conventions remain consistent throughout the curriculum.
- Review curriculum for pedagogical soundness, ensuring lessons and materials align with learning objectives and are teacher and classroom friendly.
- Ensure educational assessments are properly and consistently designed to accurately measure achievement of learning objectives and promote academic success and rigor.
- Identify instructional gaps, unnecessary repetition, and opportunities to strengthen curriculum coherence and flow.
- Review curriculum for grammar, spelling, punctuation, syntax, readability, and overall writing quality during the curriculum development process.
- Ensure curriculum components are complete, logically organized, and aligned with established curriculum frameworks and selected educational standards.
- Collaborate with curriculum writers to improve lesson clarity, organization, and instructional effectiveness while maintaining the author's intended meaning.
- Work collaboratively with subject matter experts to preserve theological accuracy and academic integrity.
- Assist in developing and maintaining curriculum writing guidelines, instructional conventions, and internal curriculum standards.
- Review curriculum to ensure consistency with the mission, doctrinal positions, educational philosophy, and instructional goals of Answers in Genesis.
- Promote the mission and standards of Answers in Genesis and effectively articulate the goals of the Christian School Curriculum program.
- Prioritize personal integrity in all interactions and assignments.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by management.
Requirements
- Must agree with and be able to sign the Answers in Genesis Statement of Faith.

- Strong understanding of child development and grade-level expectations for curriculum.
- Ability to evaluate curriculum holistically, ensuring continuity and progression across units, grade levels, and subject areas.
