Job Summary
The Inventory Manager owns end-to-end inventory accuracy, control, and visibility across warehouse operations, using data, systems, and standard processes as core tools to drive performance. This role leads inventory control through clear metrics, disciplined execution, and hands-on leadership, setting the standard by working alongside the team when needed. The Inventory Manager partners cross-functionally to deliver operational excellence, ensure system integrity, and continuously improve inventory performance.
The ideal candidate brings strong experience with warehouse relocations or start-ups, RFID-enabled inventory systems, overseas inbound logistics under strict SLAs, and a proven ability to translate inventory data into action.
Key ResponsibilitiesInventory Control & Execution
Lead all inventory control activities to achieve and sustain best-in-class accuracy, compliance, and efficiency
Own inventory accuracy end to end, from physical product flow to system representation
Plan and execute cycle counts, physical inventories, location audits, and reconciliations, using results to drive corrective actions
Personally model inventory control best practices by being present on the floor, validating processes, and supporting the team during critical activities
Oversee inventory readiness and execution during warehouse moves, expansions, or transitions, ensuring zero-loss mindset and system continuity
Metrics, Analysis & SystemsUse inventory metrics as a primary management tool, including accuracy, adjustments, count variance, and SLA adherence
Prepare, analyze, and present inventory KPIs; clearly communicate trends, risks, and improvement plans to leadership
Lead root cause analysis for shortages, overages, and systemic errors
Own the integrity of inventory data within WMS and ERP systems, ensuring transactions, locations, and statuses are accurate and timely
Leverage systems (WMS, ERP, RFID, reporting tools) to improve visibility, accountability, and decision-making
Leadership & Team DevelopmentSupervise, train, and develop inventory control staff through clear expectations, coaching, and accountability
Lead by example by demonstrating attention to detail, urgency, and adherence to standards
Build a culture where the team understands why accuracy matters, not just how to execute tasks
Provide ongoing performance feedback tied directly to measurable inventory outcomes
Cross-Functional PartnershipPartner closely with receiving, shipping, operations, and supply chain teams to resolve inventory issues and prevent recurrence
Support and optimize RFID inventory tracking, including implementation, audits, and accuracy validation
Manage overseas inbound inventory flows, ensuring compliance with strict SLAs, documentation requirements, and receiving standards
Ensure proper product slotting, labeling, and storage to support operational efficiency and safety
Continuous Improvement & ComplianceDevelop, document, and enforce inventory control procedures and best practices
Lead continuous improvement initiatives that reduce errors, improve system accuracy, and increase productivity
Ensure compliance with company policies, safety standards, and audit requirements
QualificationsHigh school diploma or GED required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree preferred
3–6 years of inventory control experience in a warehouse or distribution environment
3-5 years of supervisory or management experience
Strong understanding of inventory management principles, and warehouse operations
Hands-on experience with WMS/ERP systems; strong Excel and reporting skills required
Demonstrated ability to investigate discrepancies, analyze data, and implement corrective actions
Proven leadership skills with the ability to influence through action, not just direction
Highly organized, detail-oriented, and analytical problem solver
Experience & SkillsExperience supporting warehouse moves, start-ups, or network transitions
Hands-on experience with RFID-based inventory systems
Overseas inbound logistics experience with rigid SLA management
Ownership of advanced cycle counting programs
Forklift, reach truck, or cherry picker certification
Physical RequirementsAbility to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 50 lbs as required
Comfortable working in a fast-paced warehouse environment and on the floor as needed
Work ScheduleFull-time; may include nights, weekends, or overtime based on business needs
