Job SummaryThe Heavy Mechanical Assembler will assemble and disassemble boilers and other large‑scale power generation equipment and their sub‑assemblies following blueprints and specific work instructions. The role requires flexibility, attention to detail, and the ability to work safely with a variety of machinery.
Responsibilities- Disassemble major structures and sub‑assemblies for boiler parts in a timely manner and according to job order, verbal instructions, procedures, and/or blueprints.
- Perform basic inventory of parts before assembly.
- Clean parts as required.
- Use measuring tools and apply basic mathematics to measure parts and components.
- Break down and perform visual inspection of internal working parts for structures or sub‑assemblies.
- Shot‑blast off paint, rust, etc., using sanding procedures.
- Set up and operate grinders, sanders, jackhammers, ovens, pneumatic tools, saws, cranes, blast booths, forklifts, and scissor lifts as needed.
- Record measurements on documents.
- Troubleshoot problems or issues that arise (according to specification).
- Assist more experienced Assemblers with assembly.
- High school diploma or GED.
- 3+ years of relevant work experience in an industrial manufacturing setting or relevant industry.
- Basic welding experience.
- Ability to calculate figures, basic math, and understand measuring and metrics.
- Ability to follow work rules and carry out instructions (written, oral, diagram form).
- Ability to solve problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills.
- Commitment to continuous improvement.
$22 to $34 USD per hour (may be influenced by experience, education, and location; geographic differential of 110‑130% may apply).
