Quality Technician

The Quality Technician supports the Quality team in executing day-to-day activities, ensuring products meet established quality standards and regulatory requirements. This role performs inspections and testing, accurately documents results, and assists with special projects that drive continuous improvement. The Quality Technician collaborates closely with production, engineering, and other internal teams to address quality concerns and maintain a strong culture of safety and quality throughout the facility.

Responsibilities:

  • Promote a strong safety culture by participating in safety toolbox talks, contributing to safety committees, and supporting positive reinforcement programs.
  • Ensure compliance with process and final inspection requirements to verify that products meet specifications before release.
  • Perform First Article Inspections (FAI) to validate new or modified parts and processes against engineering and customer requirements.
  • Conduct finished goods audits to confirm that completed products meet all quality and documentation standards.
  • Ensure compliance with incoming material (receiving) inspection requirements to verify that materials meet specifications before use in production.
  • Document, file, and communicate inspection and testing results in an accurate, timely, and organized manner.
  • Utilize test and measurement equipment such as calipers, tape measures, micrometers, comparators, tensile test machines, hardness testers, and other laboratory equipment.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, routers (work orders), bills of material, and other part documentation and directives.
  • Respond to internal emails and communications regarding product and quality concerns, providing clear and timely feedback.
  • Perform inspections of military parts in accordance with applicable MIL specifications and sampling documents.
  • Ensure the accuracy and integrity of all data collected and entered into quality systems and records.
  • Participate in and support the Non-Conforming Material Report (NMR/NCR) process, including identification, documentation, and disposition of nonconforming product.
  • Support the Material Review Board (MRB) process by contributing to evaluations and decisions on nonconforming materials.
  • Engage in 5S activities to maintain a clean, organized, and efficient work area.
  • Support Kanban and other continuous improvement activities to enhance quality, efficiency, and process reliability.
  • Set up test machines and equipment with minimal instructions to perform required testing and inspections.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify root causes of quality issues and implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Assist with pre-production testing and support the PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) as needed.

Essential

Skills:

  • Experience using measurement tools such as tape measures, calipers, micrometers, and comparators for dimensional inspection.
  • Hands-on experience with visual inspection and quality inspection techniques for manufactured products.
  • Proficiency in performing tensile testing and hardness testing using appropriate test machines and laboratory equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, work orders (routers), and bills of material.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to document results and communicate quality findings clearly.
  • High level of organization and attention to detail to ensure accurate records and thorough inspections.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze issues and contribute to effective solutions.
  • Knowledge of root cause analysis tools such as 5-Why and 8D methodologies.
  • Knowledge of pre-production testing and the PPAP (Production Part Approval Process).
  • Ability to set up test machines and equipment with minimal instructions.
  • Ability to work effectively as a team player in a collaborative environment.
  • Strong technical aptitude demonstrated through either a 2-year technical degree or at least 2 years of experience in technical manufacturing roles.
  • Familiarity with quality control, quality assurance, and quality check processes in a manufacturing environment.

Additional Skills &

Qualifications:

  • Experience working with NMR/NCR (Non-Conforming Material Report) processes and documenting nonconformances.
  • Experience supporting MRB (Material Review Board) activities and decisions.
  • Familiarity with MIL specifications and sampling documents for military part inspection.
  • Experience participating in 5S initiatives to maintain workplace organization and efficiency.
  • Exposure to Kanban systems and continuous improvement activities in a manufacturing setting.
  • Comfort using laboratory equipment and working in a lab testing environment.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously while maintaining high quality standards.
  • Comfort working across both office and manufacturing environments and adapting to changing priorities.
