Dangerous Goods Spill Technician; A4, 3rd Shift

DHL Express currently has an opening for a Dangerous Goods Spill Technician at our Erlanger, KY CVG HUB Facility.

A DG Spill Technician performs all duties of a typical Sort Agent/Package Handler, including shipment loading/unloading, compliance to ULD build‑up principles, use of JAG scales, and proper routing and sortation of packages. The technician also performs all duties of a typical DG Sort Agent: collecting, processing, inspecting, and building up DG shipments, operating RCTS, and producing NOTOCs. The role supports and communicates regulations and policies in accordance with the air carrier’s ground operations manual, US DOT (FAA), IATA/ICAO dangerous goods regulations, and DHL Express company policy.

• Collect all DG shipments within the sort and evaluate regulatory compliance for proper transport in the air network.
• Comply with all ICAO/IATA regulations for Dangerous Goods quantity limitations and commodity segregation, in addition to standard ULD build‑up principles.
• Enter shipment level data into RCTS, assemble shipment and ULD level information, and generate flight movement NOTOCs with accurate load positions.
• Complete initial and recurrent training, remain certified, and follow all FDA regulations regarding the disposal of foreign garbage.
• Respond to hazardous spill requests, applying knowledge of PPE, DG commodities, and their specific risks to contain, clean up, and dispose of leaking or compromised shipments.

• Successfully complete the DHL‑approved IATA Category 6 training program with advanced knowledge of dangerous goods regulations, including 49
  
  CFR, IATA, and ICAO.
• Pass an OSHA physical exam/test initially and annually.
• Complete 40‑hour Hazwoper training initially and 8‑hour Hazwoper recurrent training annually.
• Complete 8‑hour Respiratory Protection training initially and annually.
• Complete 2‑hour Emergency Response Guide (ERG) training initially and annually.
• Proficient in OSHA‑regulated Basic Spill Response, PPE, Respiratory Protection, ERG, Repack, Incident Command, DECON, and 2‑way radio protocol.
• Complete equipment fit testing both initially and annually.
• Attend monthly spill training.
• Complete FDA Foreign Garbage Disposal training both initially and annually.
• Process foreign garbage, clean aircraft, and complete disposal for each international flight.
• Respond to and process any reported or suspected spill, leak, or odor within the HUB to protect persons and property from danger.
• Process and repack any leaking shipments.
• Knowledge of DHL internal applications (PNFMS, RCTS, FOCUS, RCIR).
