Associate Dean of Nursing

This is an exceptional leadership opportunity to join a well‑established nursing program at Bay de Noc Community College, a cornerstone of healthcare education in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. The Associate Dean will lead strategic planning, curriculum development, budgeting, and compliance, working collaboratively with faculty, the Director of Nursing for the Iron Mountain Campus, and stakeholders to promote student success and strengthen community partnerships.

• Provide strategic leadership for development, implementation, and evaluation of nursing programs.
• Ensure all academic offerings align with the college’s mission and meet accreditation standards.
• Serve as Director of Nursing for the Escanaba Campus and oversee faculty recruitment, onboarding, mentoring, and evaluation.
• Develop curricula, course offerings, and assessment processes to improve student learning outcomes.
• Lead accreditation and compliance efforts with ACEN, HLC, and the Michigan Board of Nursing.
• Manage relationships with K‑12 schools, colleges, universities, and affiliated institutions; oversee articulation agreements and clinical site evaluations.
• Collaborate on student admissions, entrance testing, advising, and support services.
• Participate in budget development, monitor expenditures, and allocate resources effectively.
• Represent the college in local, state, and national health sciences organizations, and serve on committees as needed.
• Perform additional duties as directed by the Dean of Occupational and Workforce Programs.
• Travel to the Iron Mountain campus twice per month and conduct regular site visits to clinical sites.

• Master’s degree in nursing from an accredited institution.
• Current Registered Nurse (RN) licensure and eligibility for Michigan licensure.
• At least five years of RN clinical practice and five years of administrative management experience.
• Minimum two years of teaching experience in nursing education.
• Strong written and oral communication skills, interpersonal aptitude, and demonstrated leadership.
• Experience in budget analysis and preparation.
• Commitment to community and technical college values, diversity, and inclusion.

• Doctorate in nursing or a related field.
• Experience with ACEN accreditation.
• Knowledge of adult learning theories, assessment, and research.
• Familiarity with strategic planning, budgeting, and institutional assessment.
• Supervisory experience with faculty under a collective bargaining agreement.
• Recent experience as a department chair or program coordinator in a community college.
• Prior teaching at a community college.

Typical hours are 8:00 – 5:00 pm, 40 hours per week. The College offers a four‑day work week during the summer months, with no work on Fridays.

Escanaba campus (with bi‑monthly travel to Iron Mountain campus).
