Boiler Operator

The Boiler Operator operates, monitors, maintains, and repairs boilers, chillers, cooling towers, HVAC equipment, pumps, generators, compressors, and related mechanical and electrical systems to ensure the safe and reliable delivery of utilities and other facility services. This position requires detailed knowledge of boiler plant operations and the ability to support and maintain the facility's major mechanical systems such as heating, cooling, electrical, plumbing, refrigeration, communication, and fire protection in accordance with established standards, safety requirements, and regulatory guidelines.
QualificationsRequired qualifications:
- Education:
High School diploma or GED equivalent is required. - Experience:
Technical training from an accredited school or apprenticeship program for HVAC, plumbing, electrical, refrigeration, or other construction trades is preferred, or one year of previous commercial boiler plant experience, healthcare maintenance operations or skilled trade(s) experience in commercial/industrial maintenance. Knowledge and experience with arc and oxyacetylene welding and burning is a plus. Analytical skills necessary to recognize, diagnose, and, within limits, repair equipment and system malfunctions.
Ability to understand verbal and written instructions and to give readily understood information in both verbal and written forms. Ability to read and write is essential. - License/
Certifications:
May be required to obtain and maintain boiler operator licenses or other certifications as specifically required by State or local authorities. Requires a valid State driver's license.
