Capital Transmission Trimmer/Operator
Job Type: Full‑Time, Non‑Exempt
Payrate$36.05–$44.22 per hour

- $75, $159, or $175 daily per diem when requirements are met
- Trim or remove trees by climbing with a ladder, safety belt, climbing line, powered trimmer lift truck, or from the ground using gasoline, air, or hand‑powered saws and pruners
- Use wedges, sledges, and chainsaws in felling trees or trimmed trunks and in cutting and splitting logs into manageable pieces
- Spray stumps and brush with hand‑spraying equipment to prevent regrowth
- Load and unload trucks with logs, stumps, brush, debris, and feed brush into a wood chipper
- Repair minor damage to lawns, fences, and walkways caused by tree trimming
- Maintain gasoline, air, hand‑powered tools, and other equipment
- Relays hand signals, directs traffic, drives, and operates trucks and equipment as assigned, keeping work areas clear and orderly, and help train new employees
- Perform other related work as assigned by superiors
- Safeguard employees and the public from hazards, cooperate with customers, police, and fire departments during street or driveway closures, set up barriers, warning signs, flags, and markers, and be trained to perform tree and bucket rescue
- Inspect and ensure proper working conditions of tools, trucks, and equipment; request repairs or replacement as necessary; maintain good housekeeping on trucks and at work locations
- Work around hazardous equipment and near energized power lines
- Work in all temperatures and weather, and be exposed to nature, irritating plants, biting or stinging insects, dust, excessive noise, and varying heights; use hearing protection and work on uneven terrain
- Handle falling limbs and traffic hazards
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Must maintain attention and concentration for extended periods due to hazardous nature of the industry
- Must wear necessary PPE as assigned
- Must be able to safely drive a company vehicle and enter/exit vehicles frequently throughout the day
- Must withstand exposure to all kinds of weather while completing work assignments
- Must traverse various terrains and have endurance for an eight‑ to ten‑hour day, including long hours, overtime, holidays, and emergencies
- Must have sufficient eyesight to judge distances and coordinate use of equipment and tools; good hand‑to‑eye coordination required
- Must be able to operate and service all required tools and equipment
- Must be able to lift, move, and maneuver heavy weights up to 50 pounds infrequently, and up to 10 pounds frequently
- Must have no fear of heights and be able to walk, climb, and work from ladders or at various heights on uneven or slippery surfaces
- Must affiliate with the local union
- Must have transport to and from the show‑up location
- Must have a valid driver’s license
No experience required.

Due to the inherently dangerous nature of the industry and requirements to work with or around hazardous equipment, employees must have sufficient eyesight to judge distance and coordinate use of equipment and tools, maintain attention and concentration for extended periods, and withstand exposure to all kinds of weather while completing work assignments. Employees must wear personal protective equipment as necessary, enter and exit vehicles frequently, traverse various terrain, communicate with others, read, write, and comprehend job instructions, and handle conflict professionally.
