The Yard Equipment Specialist (YES) is a hybrid customer‑obsession role. This position is the company’s front line of contact with the customer, providing an outstanding customer experience and dynamically completing any tasks necessary to ensure a successful customer interaction. Tasks include, but are not limited to, yard organization, equipment staging, contract administration, returned equipment triage, local non‑CDL deliveries, understanding the customer’s equipment needs, and driving customer obsession while maintaining a positive, professional attitude.

• Visually inspect equipment prior to customer rental to ensure compliance with specifications.
• Inspect returned equipment, noting lost or damaged items on paperwork and return them to the proper yard location.
• Perform general housekeeping of Express Rental area, warehouse, and exterior premises daily.
• Determine customer equipment needs through questioning and qualifying; provide alternative equipment suggestions based on extensive equipment knowledge.
• Negotiate price and volume of orders by maximizing rate and volume.
• Place equipment orders by obtaining customer information, finalizing details, selecting inventory, and entering the rental/purchase order in the computer system; process cash rentals, including identity checks, pre‑payment, and deposit if required.
• Secure equipment by checking availability with shop, researching future availability, notifying Dispatch and Service Departments, and coordinating with other PCs as necessary.
• Administer rental contracts (new and existing), including dates, rates, ancillary charges, amendments, suspensions, and terminations; file contracts and related paperwork; verify invoices and credit memos against contract files.
• Handle customer complaints professionally to resolve to customer and company satisfaction.
• Record call details in phone log and maintain lost rent logs.
• Follow Standard Operating Procedures.
• Ensure all activity and customer transactions comply with Sunbelt safety policies.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the manager.

Education & Experience

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Familiarity with various types of construction/industrial tools & equipment.
• Previous equipment rental industry experience.
• Strong customer service & telephone skills.
• Solid computer and administrative skills.
• Successful completion of the DOT Qualification process preferred.
• Bilingual (Spanish or other) may be preferred in some locations.

Must be able to bend, squat, crouch, reach, and lift up to 50 pounds or more as required. Some Sunbelt jobs may involve long periods of driving, loading/unloading heavy equipment, performing work in extreme weather conditions, and night and weekend work.
