Accounts Payable Specialist

Description We are looking for an Accounts Payable Specialist to support a hospitality organization in Escondido, California. This Long-term Contract position is ideal for someone who brings strong attention to detail, accuracy in financial processing, and confidence managing high-volume payables activities. The person in this role will help maintain timely vendor payments, ensure invoice information is recorded correctly, and contribute to smooth day-to-day accounting operations.

Responsibilities:

- Review incoming invoices, assign accurate general ledger coding, and prepare items for processing in accordance with company procedures.

- Handle accounts payable transactions from receipt through payment, ensuring deadlines are met and records remain complete and organized.

- Process ACH payments and assist with scheduled check runs to support timely disbursement to vendors.

- Verify invoice details, resolve discrepancies, and communicate with internal teams or suppliers to address payment-related questions.

- Maintain clear documentation for payable activity and support accurate reconciliation of vendor accounts.

- Monitor outstanding items and follow up as needed to prevent delays, duplicate payments, or coding errors. Requirements - Demonstrated experience working in accounts payable within a fast-paced business environment.

- Practical knowledge of invoice review, account coding, and payment processing procedures.

- Hands-on experience supporting ACH transactions and preparing check disbursements.

- Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify inconsistencies and maintain accurate financial records.

- Effective communication skills for coordinating with vendors and internal stakeholders.

- Proficiency with standard accounting systems and Microsoft Office tools, particularly Excel.
