AP Specialist – Commercial Construction Job in Escondido, CA

Our client is a busy commercial construction company looking for an AP Specialist to support multiple active projects. This position goes beyond simply entering invoices—you'll help ensure vendor payments, subcontractor documentation, and project costs are accurately tracked.

You'll partner with Project Managers, Purchasing, vendors, and the accounting team to resolve discrepancies and keep project accounting moving.

Responsibilities

• Process subcontractor and vendor invoices
• Code invoices to appropriate jobs, cost codes, and departments
• Match invoices with purchase orders and receiving documentation
• Review subcontractor billing for completeness and approvals
• Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies
• Prepare payment batches and maintain payment records
• Maintain W-9s, insurance certificates, and vendor documentation
• Assist with job cost reporting and month-end close
• Research duplicate or incorrect invoices
• Communicate with Project Managers regarding outstanding approvals
• Assist with year-end audit documentation
