Full Charge Bookkeeper

A growing construction and specialty trades company in Escondido is adding a Full Charge Bookkeeper to its accounting team.
This position goes beyond keeping the books current. You'll help connect the financial side of the business to what's happening in the field — tracking job costs, vendors, customer payments, payroll-related accounting, and project profitability.
Your responsibilities
JOB COSTING: Track labor, materials, subcontractors, and other expenses against individual projects.
VENDOR ACCOUNTING: Manage invoices, statements, payments, and vendor records.
CUSTOMER BILLING: Prepare invoices, monitor receivables, and assist with payment follow-up.
MONTH-END CLOSE: Reconcile accounts and prepare schedules for financial reporting.
PAYROLL SUPPORT: Coordinate payroll-related accounting entries and verify labor costs.
FINANCIAL REPORTING: Provide management with accurate P&L and project-level information.
You'll also:
- Maintain the general ledger
- Prepare bank and credit card reconciliations
- Process AP and AR
- Post journal entries and accruals
- Track customer deposits and retainage
- Review project expenses for accuracy
- Assist with WIP and job-cost reporting
- Prepare monthly financial statements
- Monitor cash flow and outstanding receivables
- Coordinate with Project Managers and ownership
- Support CPA requests, audits, and year-end close
