Schedule: Monday – Friday (Field & Office) weekends as needed.

Bilbro Construction is a commercial general contractor specializing in tenant improvements, renovations, and ground-up construction projects across Southern California. Our projects include Federal Projects (US federal government agencies) like the US Army, Veterans Affairs, GSA, Department of defense and the typical projects are:
Military Bases, Federal office buildings, Border facilities, and VA hospitals. We are seeking a detail-oriented and driven Project Engineer to support our Project Managers and field teams in the successful execution of construction projects from preconstruction through closeout.

The Senior Project Engineer plays a key leadership role in supporting the Project Manager while helping guide the project engineering team. This position assists with overall project coordination and provides oversight and mentorship to Project Engineers I and II to ensure project documentation, communication, and workflows are maintained efficiently throughout the project lifecycle.

This position is ideal for someone who wants to grow into a Jr. Project Manager role and gain exposure to all aspects of commercial construction management.

Key Responsibilities Project Management Support
  • Assist Project Managers with daily project operations, scheduling, and coordination
  • Support projects from preconstruction through final completion
  • Assist with project setup, document control, and workflow management
Document Control & Contract Administration
  • Manage project documentation including:
  • RFIs
  • Submittals
  • Change Orders
  • Meeting minutes
  • As-built documentation
  • Track subcontractor submittals and approvals
  • Assist with subcontractor agreements and contract administration
Field Coordination
  • Support Superintendents with subcontractor coordination and scheduling
  • Conduct jobsite visits to monitor progress, safety, and quality
  • Assist in resolving field conflicts and construction issues
Project Financial Support
  • Assist in tracking project costs, budgets, and change orders
  • Support pay application reviews and subcontractor billing
  • Maintain project logs and cost tracking systems
Quality & Safety
  • Assist with inspections to ensure compliance with plans, specifications, and building codes
  • Monitor compliance with OSHA safety standards and company safety policies
Meetings & Reporting
  • Participate in:
  • Owner-Architect-Contractor (OAC) meetings
  • Progress meetings
  • Preconstruction meetings
  • Prepare reports and updates on project progress, risks, and schedule impacts
Qualifications Experience
  • 11+ years of experience as a Project Engineer or similar role
  • Experience working for a federal general contractor preferred
  • Experience with tenant improvements or ground-up Federal projects
Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or related field preferred
Technical Skills
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
  • Experience with construction software such as:
  • Procore
  • Bluebeam
  • Sage
    300/ Timberline
  • Primavera 6
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams)
  • Familiarity with RFI, submittal, and change order processes
Additional Requirements
  • Strong communication and coordination skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
  • Strong attention to detail and organization
  • Knowledge of OSHA safety standards
  • Valid driver's license and ability to visit job sites
  • Must be able to pass a federal background check.

Work Environment

This role requires working both in the office and active construction job sites. Field visits may account for 5%-60% of time depending on project phase.
