Position: IN-HOUSE ONLY ESY SPED - Interpreter for the Deaf

Overview

Interpreter for the Deaf (Range 58) – 2 positions, 4.5 hrs/day (8:15AM-12:45PM) (June 22, 2026 - July 17, 2026; Monday – Friday; No School July
3). The number of positions is subject to upward or downward movement pending sufficient student enrollment. Shift times may change slightly. You must be available to work the summer program for which you apply; otherwise, you will not be considered for the position.

Qualifications
  • Interpreter for the Deaf must be certified by one of the following:
    Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID), The American Consortium of Certified Interpreters (ACCI) level 4+, OR NAD Certification, level 4+.
  • Instructional Assistant (signing) position requires prior passage of the District's sign language assessment.
  • Possession of a secondary school diploma or recognized equivalent and one of the following:
    • completion of at least two years of study (minimum 48 semester hours) at an institution of higher education; or
    • possession of an associate degree or higher; or
    • passing a rigorous assessment that demonstrates knowledge of and the ability to assist in instructing reading, writing, and mathematics at a level meeting State and Federal requirements.
  • Applicants may be exempt from taking the NCLB examination if they provide college transcripts verifying 48 units or more in core subject area courses with a grade of "C" or better. Transcripts must be submitted with application.
  • If an applicant does not possess enough units to be exempt, a letter requesting an examination date must be attached to the application.
