Basic Job Assignment

Reporting to the Child Development Program (CDP) Director, with work direction for the Assistant Director, the Teacher is responsible for the academic, social‑emotional growth and development for children ages 6 weeks to 1st Grade. Develop and implement cognitive and language development activities; develops partnerships with the parents/caregivers and encourages participation. The CDP Teacher is also responsible for assuring compliance with codes of all State and local governing contracting agencies;

BGCGSD policies and Guidelines and works collegially with other staff members of the CDP.

Employment Requirements

The ideal candidate is a self‑motivated, independent worker who possesses a solid understanding of appropriate child development theories and practices; the ability to communicate effectively with staff, managers, clients/ participants, and individuals of varying levels outside of the organization; establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of Association management, employees, parents, and others encountered in the course of work;

create and maintain a safe learning environment for children and others;
To work effectively with parents, families, and childcare providers and be sensitive to the needs of culturally and ethnically diverse groups; effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public; is well organized and is able to plan and prepare in a thorough fashion; has excellent written communication skills; and has demonstrated experience working with culturally and ethnically diverse, low income or no income clients and unique populations.

Qualifications
  • Must have a California preschool teacher credential permit or AA Degree with an emphasis in Early Childhood Education with a minimum of twenty‑four (24) core units in Early Childhood Education (ECE) and 16 general ed. units.
  • A minimum of one‑year successful experience as a Child Development Center Teacher or equivalent teaching experience;
  • For Early Childhood Education Teachers‑at least 3 units of demonstrated coursework in Infant and Toddler is required;
  • Must be computer literate;
  • Current Certification in pediatric first aid and CPR or the ability to obtain within 90 days of employment;
