Qualifications

Possession of a secondary school diploma or its recognized equivalent and one of the following: completion of at least two years of study (minimum 48 semester hours) at an institution of higher education; possession of an associate’s (or higher) degree; or passing a rigorous assessment that demonstrates knowledge of and the ability to assist in instructing, reading, writing, and mathematics at a level meeting State and Federal requirements.

Applicants may be exempt from taking the multiple‑choice examination if they provide college transcripts verifying 48 units or more in core subject areas of English and Math courses with a grade of “C” or better. Transcripts or a letter requesting an examination date must be attached to the application.
