Position: Para educator Early Education-Bilingual (Spanish) 7-2026

Para educator Early Ed-Bilingual

Possession of a secondary school diploma or its recognized equivalent, completion of six units of Early Childhood Education or Child Development coursework from an accredited educational institution and one of the following:
1) completion of at least two years of study (minimum 48 semester hours) at an accredited institution of higher education;
2) possession of an associate's (or higher) degree; or
3) passing a rigorous assessment that demonstrates the knowledge of, and the ability to assist in instructing, reading, writing, and mathematics at a level meeting State and Federal requirements. Paid or volunteer experience working with children ages zero to five in an organized setting is strongly preferred. Licenses and/or Certificates:
Certification in Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED issued by the American Red Cross/American Heart Association or Emergency Medical Services Authority (EMSA) approved training program must be obtained prior to the completion of the probationary period. Proof of immunizations against influenza, pertussis, and measles as required by State Bill 792 (SB 792). May be required to obtain other job-related certificates after appointment.

Applicants may be exempt from taking the multiple choice examination if they provide college transcripts verifying 48 units or more in core subject areas of English and Math courses with a grade of "C" or better. Transcripts must be submitted with application. If an applicant does not possess enough units to be exempt, he/she must attach to their application a letter requesting an examination date.

Please note:

All candidates meeting the minimum qualifications are required to take a writing assessment examination regardless of meeting the NCLB requirements. Please be advised, applicants will not be able to submit their application without attaching either transcripts or a letter requesting an examination date.

Copy of Transcript (Verifying 48 units or more in core subject area courses with a grade of "C" or better) OR Other (A letter requesting to take the District's NCLB examination if no transcripts.)

This posting is to establish a current eligibility list for the Para educator Early Ed-Bilingual classification. The eligibility list will be used to fill future vacancies as they become available. GENERAL REQUIREMENTS:
The successful candidate must subscribe to an Oath of Allegiance, submit to a general tuberculosis examination, be fingerprinted, complete a pre-placement physical examination, and show proof of their identity and right to work in the United States as conditions of employment. The District has adopted a drug free work place policy. Employment is contingent upon satisfactory results from drug testing.

In order to be considered qualified for a vacancy in this classification, an applicant must possess the relevant training, education and experience required, and attain placement on the eligibility list by successfully passing all examination parts pertaining to the classification. CERTIFICATION
- When a vacant position is to be filled, the Classified Personnel Director submits to the appointing power the names of the top three "ranks" (three persons, including ties). This is known as "certification," and the appointing power may select any one of the persons certified. The names of those not appointed remain on the eligibility list. ELIGIBILITY LIST

- Longevity pay increments shall be paid continuously until the next increase becomes effective. The increased pay percentage shall be added to the employee's base pay rate, effective July 1, after the completion of the required number of year's service: 9 years (3.5%), 14 years (7.123%), 19 years (12.158%), 24 years (16.644%), 29 years (21.310%), 34 years (26.162%), 39 years (31.209%), 44 years (36.457%), 49 years (41.915%), 54 years (47.592%), 59 years (53.495%).
