Position Summary

The School-Age Teacher (Driver) is responsible for implementing age-appropriate curriculum, creating engaging learning experiences, maintaining a safe and welcoming classroom environment, and supporting children's educational and social-emotional development.

This position also requires the transportation of preschool and school-age children to and from schools and other approved locations. The ideal candidate has strong classroom management skills, excellent communication abilities, and a commitment to ensuring children's safety both in the classroom and during transportation. This position reports directly to the Center Director or Assistant Director.

Responsibilities Teacher Responsibilities
  • Implement the company-selected curriculum and create engaging learning experiences for preschool and school-age children.
  • Develop and implement weekly lesson plans aligned with classroom themes and developmental goals.
  • Create a nurturing, safe, and inclusive learning environment.
  • Maintain classroom cleanliness, organization, and inventory according to company standards and licensing requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with all licensing regulations and company policies.
  • Communicate regularly with parents regarding children's progress, development, and daily activities.
  • Address parent concerns professionally and collaboratively.
  • Work closely with fellow teachers and leadership team members to support program success.
  • Ensure active supervision and safety of children at all times, both indoors and outdoors.
  • Support children's social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development through age-appropriate activities and interactions.
Transportation Responsibilities
  • Safely transport preschool and school-age children to and from schools, field trips, and approved program activities.
  • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and report maintenance or safety concerns to management.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe vehicle at all times.
  • Follow all company transportation policies, traffic laws, and child passenger safety requirements.
  • Ensure accurate attendance and accountability of children during transportation activities.
  • Respond appropriately to emergencies and follow established safety procedures.
  • Maintain a valid California Driver's License and remain insurable under the company's vehicle insurance policy.
  • Effectively supervise children during loading, unloading, and transportation to ensure their safety at all times.
Qualifications
  • Must be at least 21 years of age
    .
  • Minimum of 12 Early Childhood Education (ECE) units
    , including:
    • Child Development
    • Child, Family & Community
    • One additional Child Development course (such as Program & Curriculum, Child Health & Safety, etc.)
    • One Elective Child Development course
  • Valid California Driver's License.
  • Clean driving record.
  • Must meet company driving and insurance requirements.
  • Comfortable transporting preschool and school-age children and following all transportation safety procedures.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Preschool Teacher, School-Age Teacher, or Early Childhood Educator preferred.
  • Ability to pass DSS background clearance.
  • Current Mandated Reporter Certification.
  • Current Pediatric CPR and First Aid Certification.
  • Comfortable learning new technology and software applications.
  • Adaptable and willing to work as part of a team-focused environment.
Physical Requirements and Work Environment
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
