About the Position
The company is seeking an experienced Senior Estimator to join its estimating team in Escondido, CA. This individual will serve as the Lead Estimator on electrical construction projects ranging from $500K to $20M, playing a critical role in securing new work and supporting the company’s growth.
The Senior Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates, leading bid efforts, and coordinating closely with internal teams, suppliers, and customers. This role requires strong technical expertise in electrical systems, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to manage multiple bids simultaneously.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Preparing complete and accurate electrical estimates, bids, and proposal packages
- Serving as the lead estimator on assigned projects from concept through bid submission
- Reviewing drawings, specifications, and contract documents to assess project scope and risk
- Collaborating with project managers, engineers, vendors, and subcontractors to develop pricing
- Soliciting and analyzing supplier and subcontractor quotes
- Identifying value engineering opportunities and cost-saving strategies
- Supporting post-bid reviews and project handoff to operations teams
Requirements
- Experience: 5–10 years of estimating experience within electrical contracting or construction
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred (or equivalent industry experience)
- Project Experience: Commercial and/or large-scale electrical construction projects valued between $500K and $20M
- Technical Skills:
- Strong understanding of electrical systems, materials, labor, and installation methods
- Proficiency with estimating software and Microsoft Office tools
- Professional Skills:
- Ability to lead estimating efforts and mentor junior estimators
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time-management abilities
- Certifications: Industry certifications are a plus but not required
