As a Porter at RWB Thrift, you are the air‑traffic controller of the backroom, anticipating the needs of the production support staff ahead of time, ensuring supplies are available and in the correct place. You play a vital role in maintaining a safe work environment by prioritizing cleanliness, organization, and flow of the production floor. You are aware of the walkways and removing hazards for the production floor team.
DescriptionYour attention to detail and fast‑paced work execution contribute to a positive working experience for our production employees and help streamline overall production. Below are brief descriptions of various jobs of a Porter on any given shift:
- Trailer Loader / Unloader:
The primary task of a trailer loader / unloader is to safely and efficiently load and unload items from delivery trucks or trailers. This can include furniture, boxes of clothing and household goods, electronics, and other donated items. They sort and organize items, document arrivals, and safely move merchandise to designated areas within the store. Communication with the team, adherence to safety protocols and following store procedures are essential aspects of their role. - Trash Compactor Operator:
The Trash Compactor Operator manages waste efficiently and maintains a clean and organized workspace. Responsible for operating and maintaining the trash compactor equipment, ensuring the proper disposal of discarded items, and compacting waste materials to optimize space. - Organizer:
The Organizer oversees supply management within the backroom. Responsible for receiving, organizing, and replenishing supplies such as hangers, sensors, racks, carts, and bins, ensuring timely availability of supplies on the production floor.
- Transport items between departments and assist with supply movement as needed
- Maintain inventory of supplies and notify management when supplies need replenishment
- Follow safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe and clean environment for customers and staff
- Provide excellent customer service by anticipating the needs of the production staff so they can accelerate their workflow
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast‑paced environment
- Attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness and organization

Job Functions:
Capable of safely and effectively performing essential job functions in accordance with ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards, including meeting both qualitative and quantitative productivity requirements. - Physical Strength:
Must have the ability to occasionally lift and carry up to 70 lbs, frequently exert up to 25 lbs of force, and constantly apply negligible force when handling objects. - Endurance:
