Mixer Job Description

Job Title: Mixer / Mixing Machine Operator Department: Production / Manufacturing Reports To: Production Supervisor or Shift Lead

The Mixer is responsible for accurately measuring, loading, and blending raw materials according to specified formulas and production schedules. This role ensures all ingredients are mixed to quality standards while maintaining a clean, safe, and efficient work environment.

• Set up, operate, and monitor mixing equipment according to company procedures.
• Measure, weigh, and load raw materials based on batch sheets or formulas.
• Adjust mixing times, speeds, temperatures, and other parameters to achieve proper consistency and quality.
• Inspect materials for quality, contamination, and accuracy before and during mixing.
• Document all mixing activities, including lot numbers, batch records, and production logs.
• Perform in-process quality checks (viscosity, texture, density, pH, temperature, etc., depending on industry).
• Clean and sanitize equipment, tools, and work areas according to safety and hygiene procedures.
• Troubleshoot equipment issues and notify maintenance or supervisors when necessary.
• Follow all safety regulations, including PPE requirements and lockout/tagout procedures.
• Coordinate with production teams to ensure efficient workflow and timely batch completion.

• High school diploma or GED (preferred).
• Prior experience as a mixer, machine operator, or in a production environment (preferred).
• Ability to read and follow batch sheets, formulas, and SOPs.
• Basic math skills for measuring and weighing ingredients.
• Physical ability to lift 50–75 lbs (depending on facility requirements).
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Ability to work in hot, cold, or noisy environments and stand for long periods.
