Help Interfaith Community Service's veteran and civilian residents become healthy again by providing basic nutrition through meal transportation. Volunteers will transport meals less than 5 miles from the kitchen to the Recuperative Care Program center, sometimes accompanied by the chef.
While at the center, volunteers will assist in setting up and serving meals, then help clean up and return equipment and the chef to their main campus.
Opportunity Requirements & Important NotesTime Commitment: One shift per week for at least 6 months. Shifts are available daily: lunch from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm and dinner from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm.
Required Skills/Experience: Valid CA driver’s license with a clean driving record, proof of insurance, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and enthusiasm for working with diverse populations. Volunteers should be reliable, punctual, team-oriented, and genuinely concerned for others. Immediate reporting of operational issues is expected.
Physical Requirements: Ability to move freely and carry up to 25 lbs. of equipment. Accommodations cannot be made for physical limitations.
Onboarding Process: After signing up, volunteers will undergo a phone screening, provide background check documents, DMV driving record, proof of insurance, and driver’s license. A test shift will be scheduled once background checks clear (approximately 1-2 weeks). If successful, volunteers are placed on a regular schedule. The entire process takes about 2 weeks.
