Substitute- Licensed Vocational Nurse; LVN

Job Overview

This position establishes a current Substitute Pool List for the  school year. Candidates must hold a valid LVN or RN license and CPR/First Aid certification (either First Aid and CPR cards or a BLS card).

Eligible applicants will be compiled to create a current Substitute Pool List in order to fill daily or weekly vacancies at various school sites within the Escondido Union School District (EUSD).

• Valid LVN or RN license
• CPR and First Aid certification (First Aid and CPR cards or a BLS card)
• Subscribes to an Oath of Allegiance
• Submits to a general tuberculosis examination
• Is fingerprinted
• Completes a pre-placement physical examination
• Provides proof of identity and right to work in the United States

Successful candidates must pass all parts of the classification‑specific examination; the top three ranks are submitted for appointment. The final composite score may include up to five points of employee service credit for regular employees. The eligibility list is valid for one year.

Employees working five hours or more receive:

• Family medical coverage, employee life and vision, and employee or family dental coverage
• Pay for authorized holidays (16 holidays for twelve‑month employees)
• Shift differential: 3.75% above the base rate for work between 5 p.m. and 7 a.m.
• Sick leave: 12 days paid for each year of service (full pay)
• Vacation: 12 days paid for each year of service

Other policies include longevity pay increases, merit system appointments, probationary period of up to six months, professional growth salary increments after one year, retirement contributions to the California Public Employees Retirement System and Federal Social Security program, and veteran preference points as prescribed by law.
