Compensation & Benefits:
Annual salary range $85,000 - $105,000

Position Overview: OSS is seeking a hands-on Quality Engineer who is comfortable moving between suppliers, incoming inspection, manufacturing quality, drawing interpretation, corrective action, and continuous improvement. This role works directly with suppliers, Engineering, Manufacturing, and Operations to solve problems and improve product quality.
Reporting Relationships:
The Quality Engineer will report to the Quality Assurance Manager.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Support supplier, receiving, in-process, and final product quality for electro-mechanical assemblies, computer/server systems, sheet-metal and machined components, PCBs, PCBAs, cables, chassis, enclosures, and related hardware.
Perform and support First Article Inspections (FAIs/FAIRs) in accordance with AS9102 and review supplier-provided FAIR documentation.
Read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, tolerances, basic GD&T, surface-finish requirements, workmanship standards, drawing revisions, and customer quality requirements.
Perform hands-on dimensional and visual inspection using calipers, micrometers, height gauges, pin gauges, thread gauges, go/no-go gauges, microscopes, surface plates, and other appropriate inspection equipment.
Evaluate mechanical and electronic assemblies for dimensional compliance, fit and function, workmanship, cosmetic defects, plating/coating issues, solder quality, component orientation, connector installation, contamination, and other manufacturing defects.
Investigate nonconformances, supplier escapes, production defects, customer complaints, returns, and field failures using structured problem solving such as 5 Why, Fishbone/Ishikawa, 8D, and corrective action.
Work directly with suppliers and Supply Chain on containment, SCARs, corrective actions, supplier performance, First Article requirements, and improvement activities.
Support the AS9100D / ISO 9001 quality management system, including audits, calibration, document control, quality metrics, traceability, risk-based thinking, and continuous improvement.
