Position Title: Human Resources Intern

Department: Human Resources

Classification: Non-Exempt

Salary: Pending

Reports To: Human Resources Manager

Position Overview:

The Human Resources (HR) Intern to assist with the daily operations of the HR department in an administrative capacity. This role is perfect for someone looking to understand the administrative background of the HR department in a Federally Qualified Health Center, including compliance, onboarding, and record-keeping.

What You Will Do:

  • Data entry, email communication, answering incoming calls, assisting the staff in an administrative capacity.
  • Assist in auditing personnel files to ensure all medical certifications and licenses are current.
  • Schedule interviews, conduct reference checks, and manage high-volume scanning/filing.
  • Assist the Marketing Intern with organizing staff appreciation events and "Employee of the Month" logistics.
  • Direct incoming inquiries and staff questions to the appropriate staff member.
  • Prepare and distribute internal communications, memos, and reports as needed.
  • Assist with onboarding paperwork and new hire orientation scheduling.
  • Monitor office supply inventory and place orders as necessary.
  • Support meeting coordination, including preparing agendas, reserving conference rooms, and taking meeting minutes.
  • Help ensure compliance with company policies and HR procedures.
  • Provide general clerical support, including copying, faxing, filing, and document preparation.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Currently enrolled or recent graduate of a degree program in Human Resources, Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or Psychology.
  • Demonstrates a high degree of discretion and a strong understanding of confidentiality.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Excel and Word), with experience in calendar management and scheduling.
  • Genuine interest in pursuing a career in Human Resources.
  • Excellent customer service abilities.
  • Strong attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Human Resources.
  • Experience in an office setting assisting administratively.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to balance, bend, lift, carry, and pull up to 20 lbs.
  • Ability to sit and stand for extended periods, typically longer than four hours.
  • Flexibility to work a varied schedule, including evenings, weekends, or as needed.
  • Manual dexterity and ability to use hands and fingers for feeling, grasping, and operating office equipment.
  • Adequate hearing ability for communication and monitoring office environments.
  • Good vision for reading documents, operating office equipment, and observing surroundings.
  • Capability to stoop, crouch, crawl, or kneel as necessary for office tasks.
  • Ability to talk clearly and effectively for communication.
  • Ability to walk and move around the office environment.
